October 2013 Monthly Meeting

We are starting at 6:00PM with a panel discussion on the Affordable Care Act. Here you will find out: What parts of the Affordable Care Act are already being used? What will happen to BadgerCare the 92,000 Wisconsinites who are on it? Open enrollment has already start, how and when do I enroll? How are Medicaid benefits affected? What if I have insurance? Wisconsin is not receiving any funds from Medicaid expension, what does that mean? How is technology helping to implement the ACA? What is SHOP, and how will it help small business?

There will be allotted time for your questions. We hope you can be there and bring anybody who may benefit from learning this information. The panelists will be Michael Bare (Community Advocates Public Policy Institute), Kevin Hayden (Group Health Cooperative), Carol Koby (Host, All About Living radio program) and Jon Peacock (Wisconsin Council on Children and Families).

This will go until 7:30, then we'll begin our regular business. We will be hearing from State Representative JoCasta Zamarripa of Milwaukee. Representative Zamarripa recently led a statewide tour highlighting the issue of immigration reform. We will also be holding nominations to the Executive Committee for the November election.

What a great meeting and a great turn out. I learned a lot about ACA and would suggest if you missed this meeting to try to find another one in the Dane County area. It is worth the listen and the time invested.
